Pope Francis has named Dominican priest Fr Timothy Radcliffe as a consultor of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Vatican Radio announced on Saturday.
Ordained in 1971, Fr Timothy is a well-known preacher, speaker, broadcaster and author of several books, including What is the point of being a Christian?, Why Go To Church?,Take the Plunge – Living Baptism and Confirmation and Stations of the Cross.
Fr Timothy served as Master of the Dominican order from 1992 to 2001. He is the only member of the English Province of the Dominicans to have held the office since the Order’s foundation in 1216. He is currently the Director of the Las Casas Institute of Blackfriars Oxford which focuses on the promotion of Social Justice and Human Rights. He is an Honorary Doctor of Divinity at the University of Oxford.
